LONG BEACH, Calif. - The University of Houston golf team posted a team score of 297 Friday during the final round of the Del Walker Intercollegiate to fall into 11th place in the final standings.
For the second straight tournament, junior Ben Moser led the Cougars, shooting 215 over two days to tie for 15th. Junior transfer Beau Davis fired the team's low round of the day with a 1-under -par 70 to finish at 222 and tie for 54th.
Other Cougars in action were Jackie Lindsey (221. T-51st), Brady Shivers (224, t-58th) and Clark Mitzner (227, 63rd)
Colorado State won the team championship with a 54-hole score of 811, 23 strokes ahead of UC Irvine. Long Beach State (842), Pacific (848) and UTSA (852) rounded out the top-five team leaders.
CSU's Zahkai Brown grabbed medalist honors after shooting a 17-under-par 196. Teammate Dustin Morris and UC Irvine's John Chin tied for second with scores of 204.
This was only the Cougars' second tournament of the season since competing at the Mean Green Classic on Sept. 8-9. UH was scheduled to compete at the Kansas Invitational on Sept. 15-16 but was forced to cancel their appearance due to Hurricane Ike.
The Cougars wrap up their fall season when they compete at the Baylor Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas on Oct. 27-28.
