HOUSTON - Playing in their second match in as many nights, the Houston volleyball team dropped a three-game match to the visiting No. 21 Louisville Cardinals at the Athletics/Alumni Center on Saturday night.
Despite keeping pace with the Cardinals in all three games through the first 15 points, the Cougars were not able to keep up with Louisville and the Cardinals put together several rallies to close out the games 30-23, 30-21 and 30-26.
The front line of the Cardinals made it difficult for the Cougars, posting 11.5 blocks to the Cougars' 6.0 on the night.
Sophomore Becca Sartori and junior Kariny Ritter led Houston with 10 kills apiece as junior Jennifer Hohl dished out 30 assists. Ritter also added four blocks on the evening.
As a team Houston hit .114 to Louisville's .327, as the C-USA leaders improved to 6-0 in conference play while the Cougars fell to 3-3.
Next week the Cougars take to the road as they head off to face Marquette and DePaul on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23.
