Golf Finishes in 12th Place at Cleveland Golf Classic

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - Despite improving its team score with each round, the University of Houston golf team could move no higher in the final team standings at the Cleveland Golf Classic.
The Cougars finished 12th in the tournament after posting a three-round team score of 898. UH had entered Tuesday's final round in 12th place with a score of 503 and fired a 295 during the final 18 holes for its placing on the 6,900-yard, par-71 course at North Ranch Country Club.
UH continues its tour out West as it competes at the Las Vegas Intercollegiate on Friday through Sunday at the Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Individually, a pair of Cougars rebounded to post solid scores during Tuesday's final round. Brett Callas fired an even-par 71 to tie for 20th place with a two-day score of 221, while Simon Robinson finished in a tie for 30th with a score of 223 after shooting 1-over-par 72 on Tuesday.
Other Cougar linksters were Brad McIntosh (225, t-33rd), John Wine (236, t-73rd) and Scott Ferguson (238, t-75th).
Host USC's "A" Team captured the team championship by three strokes over Washington and Oregon. Washington's Brock Mackenzie claimed the individual championship with a 5-under-par 208 after shooting 68-69 in his final two rounds.
