Swimming and Diving Announces Signee in Early Signing Period

HOUSTON - The University of Houston swimming and diving program signed Houston product Elizabeth Goeggel during the early signing period, UH head coach Mark Taylor announced Friday.
Goeggel, who preps at Langham Creek High, is the first signee for Taylor, who is in his first with the Cougar Swimming & Diving program.
A highly-decorated student-athlete in high school, Goeggel has competed at the national level and should pay immediate dividends during her first collegiate season in 2003-004.
"She is an exciting young swimmer who will add a new aspect to our team," Taylor said. "She comes from a fabulous club program with great coaches, so I am positive that she will be an impact player in her first season."
Goeggel is expected to compete in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events as well as they 200-yard and 400-yard individual medley competitions.
The Cougars return to action this weekend as they play host to Louisiana-Monroe at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the UH Natatorium. The meet is free to the public, which is invited to attend.
