UH-ex Mike Green Named NFL Europe MVP

Chicago, IL - Former University of Houston running back Mike Green, a member of the Barcelona Dragons this spring, has been named the Offensive Most Valuable Player of NFL Europe for the 2001 season.
Green established a new league single-season rushing record with 1,057 yards over his 10 games. He helped the Dragons to an 8-2 record in the regular season along with a berth in World Bowl IX against the Berlin Thunder this Saturday in Amsterdam Arena.
Allocated by the Tennessee Titans, Green posted a league-record five 100-yard rushing games and scored an NFLEL single-game record four touchdowns in the Week 6 game against the Berlin Thunder. "I wanted to show what I can do," said Green of his NFLEL success. "I am getting into games and playing on a great team that has a chance to win a championship. It has been a great experience."
Green, a Houston native and prep standout from nearby Klein High School, was a seventh round selection of the Titans in the 2000 draft following his career at UH. He rushed for 838 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior in 1999, splitting backfield time with Ketric Sanford, Conference USA's all-time leading rusher. He helped the Cougars to a 7-4 finish that season.
