Golf Finishes 14th at Long Cove Invitational

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The University of Houston golf team fired its best round of the tournament but it would not be enough to rise higher in the standings as the Cougars finished 14th at the Long Cove Invitational on Sunday.
The Cougars, who concluded their 2001 fall season, shot a team score of 298 to finish at 49-over-par 901. Scott Ferguson fired an even-par 71 for the second consecutive round to finish at 9-over-par 222 and tie for 26th place.
Other Cougars were Brett Callas (t-44th, 226), Brad McIntosh (t-49th, 228), Chris Cureton (t-49th, 228 and John Wine (t-70th, 237).
Georgia Tech captured the team crown with a score of 3-over-par 855, while USC's David Oh was the top individual player after shooting 69 for the second consecutive round and posting a 7-under-par 206.
