Golfers in 13th Place at Long Cove Invitational

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The University of Houston stood in 13th place Saturday after second day competition at the Long Cove Invitational.
UH, competing in its third tournament of the fall season, fired a team score of 303 during Saturday's second round on the par-71, 7,026-yard Long Cove Golf Course to finish at 35-over-par 603 through the first 36 holes.
The team will finish the tournament with 18 holes scheduled for Sunday.
All but one Cougar saw their second-round scores rise from Friday's first round. Brett Callas leads Houston at 8-over-par 150 to tie for 36th place. After shooting an 80 in the first round, Scott Ferguson rebounded Saturday to post an ever-par 71 and stand as the only Cougar to better his first-round tally.
Other Cougar linksters were Chris Cureton (t-45th, 152), Brad McIntosh (t-53rd, 153) and John Wine (t-69th, 161).
Georgia Tech recorded a 278 Saturday to stand in first place in the team standings with a two-day score of 7-over-par 575, five strokes ahead of second place Texas.
Individually, USC's David Oh led all players at 5-under-par 137 to finish two strokes ahead of Wake Forest's Bill Haas and D.J. Trahan of Clemson.
