Marissa Jones joined the Houston Athletics Dominic & Ellen Ng Academic Center for Excellence in January 2022 and currently serves as Assistant Director of Academic Services where she provides academic support to student-athletes on the women's basketball and swimming & diving programs.
She has served in multiple roles in the Academic Center for Excellence ranging from intern to coordinator and now assistant director.
Prior to joining the Athletic department she worked as a graduate assistant in the Office of Admissions assisting with campus visits while supervising the UH Ambassarod Leadership Council.
Before being hired at the University of Houston, Jones worked for Fort Bend ISD as a CTE Health Science Teacher and Athletic Trainer from June 2016 to July 2021. She worked as a Sports Medicine Teacher, Athletic Trainer and School Nurse in Franklin ISD for three years prior to moving to Fort Bend ISD.
A native of Crystal Springs, Miss., she received her bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Leisure Studies from Southern University in 2009, where she was a member of the world-renowned Human Jukebox Marching Band. She went on to earn her Master's in Athletic Training from Tennessee-Chattanooga in 2012, and in 2022 she received her second Master's in Higher Education from the University of Houston. Marissa is an adoptive parent of 4 beautiful girls.
