Casey Kyriacopoulos joined the University of Houston Athletics Department as an associate director of sports medicine in June 2023.
In that role, she works with the Houston Swimming and Diving program, performing daily evaluations, treatments and rehabilitation with student-athletes. She also uses multi-disciplinary services for student-athlete healthcare and wellness and serves as a liaison between mental health services and sports medicine staff.
The Charlottesville, Va., native came to Houston after serving for 18 months as assistant athletics trainer at William and Mary from January 2022 to June 2023. There, she worked with the Men's and Women's Gymnastics programs.
Prior to that, Kyriacopoulos worked as assistant athletics trainer with Riverside Medical Group in Newport News, Va. (2019-22) and at Centennial High School in Peoria, Ariz. (2017-19).
Kyriacopoulos received her bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in athletics training and a minor in exercise science from Marshall in 2015. As a member of the Thundering Herd, she was a four-year letterwinning diver and was named All-America and to Conference USA All-Academic teams.
From there, she attended LSU, where she earned her master's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sports pedagogy in 2017. As a graduate assistant athletics trainer, Kyriacopoulos worked with the Men's Tennis and Swimming and Diving programs.
Kyriacopoulos is a certified athletics trainer and is a member of the National Athletics Trainers Association, National Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
She and her husband, Sean Carter, have two pugs named Spud and Bean, and live in Houston.
