McDonald returned to the University of Houston Men’s Basketball program as the team’s video coordinator in June 2022.
In his role, McDonald works closely with Head Coach Kelvin Sampson and the coaching staff on opponents’ scouting reports and game preparations and assists in other areas of the program.
McDonald is no stranger to Sampson and the Houston Men’s Basketball program. He first joined the team as a student manager from 2017 to 2019 before serving as the Cougars’ assistant video coordinator from 2019 to 2021.
In July 2024, he worked as an assistant coach with The Basketball Tournament’s Forever Coogs team and directed the team’s offensive and defensive schemes. His work helped lead that squad to the finals.
McDonald served as the video coordinator at Lamar during the 2021-22 season when he worked for former Houston Head Coach and Assistant Coach Alvin Brooks and Houston letterman and Lamar Assistant Coach Mikhail McLean.
In addition to his professional experience at the collegiate level, McDonald also has assisted Team USA Basketball and worked with Aaron Miller Elite Bball Training.
McDonald received his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Houston in 2019.
