ACE Athletic Advising Philosophy
Student-Athlete Academic Success Programs must have exceptional practices that guide student-athletes throughout their journey of being independent learners to graduation and beyond regardless of sport, athletic participation, and assigned athletic aid.
It is an athletic academic counselor's responsibility to assist with course scheduling and graduation progress, as well as to maintain a practice of intrusive advising that seeks intentional contact and proactive interventions while working to remove barriers that hinder the academic success and motivation for all student-athletes.
Athletic academic counselors in athletics should be knowledgeable of Adverse Childhood Experiences and how dysfunction before the age of 18 can impede a student-athlete's desire to thrive academically.
To support the NCAA expectation of institutional control and aid in the attainment of competitive excellence, Student Athlete Academic Success Programs must produce superior baseline customer service to all coaches, students and administrators.
