Junior fires 2-under 68 in Second Round to rise into tie for 22nd

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Houston Women's Golf junior Emilia Väistö posted a 2-under 68 during the Second Round of the Schooner Fall Classic to lead the Cougars at Belmar Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Jackie Gonzalez Howard and sophomore Zoe McLean-Tattan joined Väistö with sub-par rounds in the Second Round.

Väisto started her day at the 6,182-yard, par-70 course with a birdie at the par-5 12^th hole and rebounded from a bogey at No. 4 to sink a birdie on the 195-yard, par-3 sixth hole.

Following four straight pars, the Sienäjoki, Finland, closed her day with her third birdie of the day at No. 11 to finish the day with a 68 and move into a tie for 22^nd at 1-under 139. It was the Cougars' low round of the young 2026-27 season.

Starting off No. 13, Gonzalez Howard ran into trouble with a bogey at No. 14 but returned to even par with a birdie on the par-3 second hole.

Fighting through a double-bogey at the par-4 fourth hole, the Durango, Mexico, native drained three birdies in a four-hole stretch at Nos. 8-11 to finish with a 69 and rise into a tie for 32nd at 140.

Making her Houston debut after transferring from ULM this summer, McLean-Tattan started Sunday's round at No. 15 and moved into red numbers with a birdie on the par-4 18^th hole. The Romford, England, native closed her day with pars on 13 of her final 14 holes and moved into a tie for 84^th at 150.

As a team, the Cougars stood in 13^th with a two-day total of 571.

Senior Daniela Campillo Martinez was tied for 46^th at 143 while sophomore Sadie Adams and senior Ellen Yates were tied for 81^st at 149.

Iowa State held the first-day lead at 541 to stand six strokes ahead of host Oklahoma. TCU (544), Florida State (550), Oklahoma State (555), Virginia Tech (555), Kansas State (557), UCF (559), Tulane (560) and Tulsa (561) completed the Top-10 leaders.

Virginia Tech's Xin Yao Wang and Oklahoma's Satonkan (Earn) Thiengsri were tied for the individual leader at 133. Audrey Richser (Oklahoma), TCU teammates Kirstin Angosta, and Camille Min-Gaulter, Haruhi Nakatani (Florida State) and Alexandra Vidal Rivera (Iowa State) were tied for third at 134.

The Final Round begins with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Monday. Admission is free, and all fans are invited to attend.

TEE TIMES
For Monday's Final Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Oral Roberts and Arkansas State with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start.

Väistö begins the day in the first group off No, 12 with Gonzalez Howard (No. 13), Adams (first group off No. 14), Campillo Martinez (second group off No. 14) and Yates (second group off No. 15) following. McLean begins her Final Round in the second group off No. 16.
