Cougars tee off at Dallas Athletic Club on Thursday morning
DALLAS – The University of Houston Women's Golf program opens the postseason when it tees off at the Big 12 Championship presented by Allstate at Dallas Athletic Club on Thursday morning.Schools will play 18 holes each day beginning at 8 a.m., Thursday, with the Final Round teeing off Saturday morning on the 6,270-yard, par-72 course.
The 36th-ranked Cougars will compete as the #7 seed at the Big 12 Championship. In its most recent action, Houston finished fifth at the Huntington Bank Collegiate at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on April 5-7.

MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Lasprilla, the Cougars will be represented by senior Moa Svedenskiöld, junior Maelynn Kim, senior Natalie Saint Germain, senior Alexa Saldaña and sophomore Emilia Väistö. Freshman Sadie Adams will make her postseason debut as a substitute as needed.
This season, Svedenskiöld leads the Cougars with a 71.88 scoring average. The Halmstad, Sweden, native paces the team with four Top-10 finishes and finished among the Top-20 in each of her last six events.Saint Germain stands second on the squad with a 72.63 average and is tied with Kim for the team lead with 13 rounds of par or lower. The Prague native captured the individual title at the Jim West Challenge in October, thanks to three straight rounds in the 60s.
Svedenskiöld and Saldaña will compete in their fourth straight Conference Championship while Kim and Saint Germain will each participate in their third.
Making her first postseason appearance with Houston, Väistö tied for 15th at the Southern Conference Championship while playing for Mercer before transferring to the Cougars last summer.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 14-team field featuring 11 of the nation's Top-50 programs.
The field includes #15 UCF, #20 Arizona State, #22 Oklahoma State, #24 Baylor, #25 Iowa State, #29 Arizona, #37 Kansas, #38 Kansas State, #42 TCU, #47 Colorado, BYU, Cincinnati and Texas Tech.
TEE TIMES
For Thursday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Kansas and Kansas State beginning at 8:50 a.m.
Väistö begins the day off No. 1 at 8:50 a.m. with Saldaña (9 a.m.), Saint Germain (9:10 a.m.), Kim (9:20 a.m.) and Svedenskiöld (9:30 a.m.) following.

UP NEXT
Following the Big 12 Championship, the Cougars will learn their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show at 4 p.m. (CDT), Wednesday, April 29, on Golf Channel.
Houston has been represented in NCAA Regional play every season except the first in program history in 2013-14 when NCAA regulations would not allow it. The Cougars have been selected as a team at NCAA Regionals in each of the last three years and nine of the last 10 seasons.
From there, the Cougars will enter the NCAA postseason on May 11-13 at one of six venues across the nation. Those sites include University of Michigan Golf Course (Ann Arbor, Mich.); UNC Finley Golf Course (Chapel Hill, N.C.); Robert Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove (Huntsville, Ala.); Stanford Golf Course (Stanford, Calif.,); Seminole Legacy Golf Club (Tallahassee, Fla.) and Ridgewood Country Club (Waco, Texas).
The Top-Five teams from each NCAA Regional advance to play at the NCAA Championships, set for May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
