Cougars End Day Two in Third Place at Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championships

Houston secured 196.5 points to move up the leaderboard
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team added 196.5 points to their total score to move up to third place following Wednesday's competition inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center.Â

Houston finished the day with a total of 302.5 points. #17 Arizona State is the new leader with 521.5 points followed by #23 Arizona (423), Utah (288), TCU (283), Cincinnati (274), Kansas (243), BYU (198), Iowa State (191) and WVU (154).Â

The diving trio started day two of the competition on the 1-meter springboard. Junior Michelle McLeod collected fifth (292.70) with freshman Maisy Woloszyn landing seventh (278.95) in the final. Sophomore Caroline Roelen finished first in the consolation final and ninth overall (267.20).Â

In the 500-yard freestyle A-Final, freshman Emma Overall was the fastest Cougar touching the wall in fifth place with a time of 4:49.44. Sophomore Mariana Cote finished the B-Final in fifth, 12th overall, with a time of 4:51.06. Sophomore Kaeli White secured the top position in the C-Final with a time of 4:51.77 (17th overall) with freshman Isabelle Wilson landing fifth at 4:53.99 (21st overall).Â

Sophomore Alexia Duncan and junior Evelyn Entrekin reached the 200-yard individual medley A-Final finishing in fourth (1:59.20) and eighth (2:03.74), respectively.Â

Senior Jenna Kerkman secured a fourth-place finish (22.71) in the B-Final of the 50-yard freestyle with senior Liya Goupil touching in eighth (22.97). Sophomore Sienna Bruner finished fifth in the C-Final with a time of (23.08).

The Cougars begin day three of competition inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Thursday with prelims starting at 9 a.m. CT and finals starting at 5 p.m. CT. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+.Â
