Pair earn recognition following ranked win in front of sell-out TDECU Stadium crowd
HOUSTON – After a statement win over #18 Oklahoma State, both Houston Football quarterback Conner Weigman and offensive lineman Anthony Boswell collected national player of the week accolades.
Weigman, who was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, secured Player of the Week nods from the Maxwell Award and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award while Boswell was selected as the Outland Trophy National Player of the Week.
Weigman, a Golden Arm Top 15 Finalist, dissected the Cowboys' defensive effort, completing 24-of-33 passes (.727) for a career-high 343 yards and five touchdowns. The yards mark were the most by a Cougar in a ranked matchup since Case Keenum in 2012 while his five aerial scores are the most by a Houston signal-caller in a ranked matchup.
The Cypress, Texas, native is the first quarterback this season to throw for five touchdowns against a Top 25 opponent and is the first FBS signal-caller to throw for at least 343 yards and five scores since South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers did so against Missouri in 2024. His five passing touchdowns were the most by any quarterback in Week 7 while his 343 passing yards were the sixth most.
Boswell led the offensive line that aided in Weigman's career night, earning a 83.6 pass block grade from Pro Football Focus for his efforts. He ranks second in the country in offensive grade (88.1) among offensive lineman with at least 150 snaps this season and first among centers with any number of snaps. His season pass block grade of 87.5 ranks eighth among linemen and first among centers with 200+ pass block snaps.
