Weigman ties career high in passing touchdowns, sets new career best in passing yards against #18 Oklahoma State
HOUSTON – Fifth-year quarterback Conner Weigman earned his fourth career Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading #14 Houston Football to its first ranked win of the season against #18 Oklahoma State, the league announced Monday.
Weigman, a Golden Arm Top 15 Finalist, dissected the Cowboys' defensive effort, completing 24-of-33 passes (.727) for a career-high 343 yards and five touchdowns. The yards mark were the most by a Cougar in a ranked matchup since Case Keenum in 2012 while his five aerial scores are the most by a Houston signal-caller in a ranked matchup.
The Cypress, Texas, native is the first quarterback this season to throw for five touchdowns against a Top 25 opponent and is the first FBS signal-caller to throw for at least 343 yards and five scores since South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers did so against Missouri in 2024. His five passing touchdowns were the most by any quarterback in Week 7 while his 343 passing yards were the sixth most.
The game marked Weigman's second career game with five passing touchdowns and first since 2023. He's posted three-or-more passing touchdowns in five games so far this season, including in back-to-back weeks, and is the eighth FBS QB to throw 4+ touchdown passes in consecutive games.
Weigman's stellar week is the most recent exceptional showing in his outstanding final collegiate campaign. He now has 20 passing touchdowns, which ranks second nationally, and 1,771 passing yards, 16th nationally. His season passer rating of 174.1 leads the Big 12 and slots in the Top 10 among all FBS quarterbacks while he also ranks second nationally being responsible for 156 points.
