Fangli clinches second consecutive season with All-America accolades in 100-yard breaststroke
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – University of Houston Swimming & Diving senior Henrietta Fangli repeated as an All-American in the 100-yard breaststroke, becoming Houston's first swimming First Team All-American by result since Nicola Fibbens took seventh in the 100-yard freestyle in 1986.
Â
Fangli placed sixth overall in the event, touching the wall in 58.29 to secure the All-America honor. She broke her own program record for the third time this season with a 58.06 in the prelims, the fourth fastest time of the morning session. The sixth-place showing was the highest for a Houston swimmer at NCAAs since Ingrid Lawrence tied for fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 1984.Â
Â
In the diving event, sophomore Michelle McLeod earned a 31st place showing, scoring a 274.20 in the preliminary round.Â
Â
Freshman Lottie Cullen took 44th in the 100-yard backstroke while junior Virag Peter placed 46th overall in the 100 breast.
