Fangli twice bests her own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke while Houston earns a B-Cut and sweeps silver medals
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team swept the silver medals while toppling a school record twice and earning a NCAA B-Cut on the fourth day of the Big 12 Conference Championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center on Friday.Â
Â
Houston swept the silver medals in the day's individual events. Starting the finals segment, senior Adelaide Meuter led four Cougars in the A-Finals of the 200-yard butterfly, placing second with a time of 1:56.85 that improved her hold of the third fastest time in program history. Sophomore Sydney Nethercutt finished third (1:57.99) with junior Noor El Gendy (1:59.01) earning sixth and senior Abbie Alvarez (1:59.22) taking seventh. Sophomore Nora Hetyei took 10th (1:59.83) and freshman Kristina DiPietro rounded out Houston's contingent in the event with a 14th-place showing (2:01.66).
