Gillian Pitts Notches Double-Digit Digs Against rv Kansas State

Houston falls to Wildcats in straight sets on Wednesday night
HOUSTON – Houston Volleyball fell in three sets to rv Kansas State on Wednesday night at Fertitta Center.
Senior Brenya Reid posted 11 kills to lead the Houston (8-18, 1-14 Big 12) offense while freshman Gillian Pitts notched 15 digs for her third straight match with double figures in the category.
Kansas State (16-8, 9-7 Big 12) grabbed the lead of the opening set early, winning seven of the first 10 points, and never relinquished its edge to win the first, 25-19.
The teams clashed early in the second. Evenly splitting the first 10 points, Houston and Kansas State saw ties at every score before a 3-0 run put the Wildcats in front. The Cougars got within three at 22-19, but Kansas State hung on to win the frame, 25-20.
The third set was another back-and-forth affair early with eight ties before Houston won back-to-back points for a 10-8 lead. The Cougars extended its edge to four at 14-10, but an 8-1 run for the Wildcats put the visitors in front, allowing Kansas State to earn a 25-20 set win in the third.
