Koziol Tabbed Semifinalist for Mackey Award

Cougar tight end one of eight semifinalist for top tight end award
HOUSTON – University of Houston Football tight end Tanner Koziol was named a John Mackey Award Semifinalist after his impressive first 10 games of the 2025 season.
Koziol, has been a semifinalist for the award in back-to-back seasons which is awarded to the top tight end in the country.
The Bloomingdale, Ill., native leads the Cougars in receptions (56) while pacing all FBS tight ends in the category. Koziol's 570 receiving yards ranks third nationally among tight ends and is second on the Houston squad.
The senior, who was named to the East-West Shrine Bowl last week, a senior bowl to showcase the top collegiate seniors, leads all tight ends with 15 contested catches, seven more than the next closest tight end.
Koziol is also on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, the award given to the best pass catcher in college football.
