Senior kicked four field goals, responsible for 15 points in win at Oklahoma State
HOUSTON – Houston Football senior kicker Ethan Sanchez collected his second Big 12 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors after another stellar game at Oklahoma State, the league announced Monday.
Sanchez kicked four field goals against the Cowboys while adding three extra points, making him responsible for 15 of Houston's 39 points in Stillwater, Okla. His makes came from 29, 30, 46 and 48 yards out during the Cougars' fifth win of the season.
With the four made field goals, Sanchez is the only kicker in the country with multiple 4+ field goal games including his five makes against Colorado on Sept. 12. He's kicked field goals in five of Houston's six games this season with four of those games including multiple successful kicks.
Sanchez has shown off his power throughout the season as eight of his 14 field goals on the year have been from 40-or-more yards out, including the two against Oklahoma State.
The Dallas, Ga., native is making his mark on Houston's record books already this season. His 14 field goals are tied for the 12thmost by a Cougar in a single season, giving him more makes through six games than the Cougars' single season record holder Roman Anderson.
With four field goals, Sanchez tied for the sixth most in a single game by a Houston kicker. He now holds two spots in the top six. He also sits in a tie for second with five makes against Colorado.
