Rain Forces Suspension of Play in Schooner Fall Classic Second Round

Course conditions on Monday morning to determine tournament format for final day of play
NORMAN, Okla. – Heavy rain forced the suspension of play during the Second Round of the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
With potential for more rain Sunday evening and Monday morning, coaches and course officials will meet Monday morning to determine one of two courses of action.
Depending on course conditions, scoring for Sunday's Second Round may be disregarded with play starting in the Final Round at 9:30 a.m., OR the Second Round will resume at 11 a.m., Monday, with no Final Round being played.
With student-athletes competing eight or fewer holes, the Cougars were tied for second with TCU at -5 when play was suspended. Auburn held the team lead at -7 with Iowa State (-4), Florida State (-3), Oklahoma (+1), Wisconsin (+4), Tulsa (+6), Kent State (+7), North Texas (+11), Oklahoma State (+11), Virginia Tech (+11) and Oral Roberts (+11) completing the Top 10.
Freshman Annika Ishiyama was tied for ninth at -2 through one hole in the Second Round when play was halted. Junior Natalie Saint Germain was tied for 12th at -1 while juniors Alexa Saldana and Moa Svedenskiold and sophomore Maelynn Kim were tied for 17th at E. Playing as an individual, sophomore Ellen Yates was tied for 87th at +12.
Florida State's Mirabel Ting and Auburn's Anna Davis were tied for the individual lead at -6. Lottie Wood (Florida State), Alexandra Vidal Rivera (Iowa State) and Kirstin Angosta (TCU) were tied for third at -4.

SCHOONER FALL CLASSIC HISTORY
This marks the fourth consecutive season in which the Cougars will compete at the Schooner Fall Classic and the fifth time in the last six years (2020 event was not held due to COVID pandemic).
Houston is coming off back-to-back fourth-place finishes in its two most recent appearances.
A year ago, Houston posted a score of 2-under 838, thanks to three straight rounds of par or lower from Svedenskiold, including 67s in the First and Final Rounds, and a career-low 66 from Kim in the First Round.
At the 2022 Schooner Fall Classic, Saint Germain tied for 10th with a score of 3-under 207 and set a school record with a 6-under 64 in the Final Round in only her second collegiate event.

The Cougars continue their fall schedule when they compete at the Illini Invitational at Medinah at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill., on Oct. 7-8.
