Cougars capture team championship at Belmar Golf Club as rain shortens tournament to 36 holes

Saint Germain posted a 3-under 67 on the 6,188-yard course and tied for fifth at 4-under 140. Ishiyama and Kim each recorded 69s Monday with Ishiyama tying for eighth at 141 and Kim tying for 11th at 142.
This marked the Cougars' second team championship under Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Lasprilla and first since sweeping the team and individual titles at the Sam Golden Invitational at Oakmont Country Club in Corinth, Texas, on Sept. 12-13, 2023.
Heavy rain forced the suspension of play during Sunday's Second Round on Sunday afternoon with all student-athletes completing eight or fewer holes. Coaches and course officials met early Monday morning and decided to cancel all scores from Sunday and proceed to the Second Round with no Third Round being played.
As a team, Houston finished the Second Round with a score of 5-under 275 for a 36-hole total of 551 to overtake Auburn and win the title by two strokes.
Florida State finished third at 554 with TCU (557), host Oklahoma (558), Kansas State (561), Iowa State (564), Oklahoma State (564), Wisconsin (568) and Tulane (568) completing the Top 10.
Starting off No. 1, Saint Germain moved under par with a birdie at No. 3 and added another birdie on the par-3 11th hole. The Prague native drained two birdies in a 3-hole stretch at Nos. 15-17 on the way to the team's low round of the day.
Saint Germain enjoyed tremendous success on her previous visit to Belmar Golf Club. She set a school 18-hole record with a 64 in the Final Round on Sept. 26, 2023, to rise into a tie for 10th.
Ishiyama enjoyed her second straight round under par on the way to the first Top-10 finish of her career. The Costa Mesa, Calif., native made her first birdie of the day on the par-4 second hole and overcame her lone bogey of the round at No. 6 with her final birdie at No. 17 to join Sophie Bert (Kansas State) and Grace Kilcrease (Oklahoma State) in a tie for eighth.
Kim rebounded from an early bogey in her Second Round to return to even par with a birdie at No. 8 and sank her final birdie at No. 17 to tie with three others at 2-under 138.
Junior Moa Svedenskiold finished with an even-par 70 Monday and tied for 28th at 142 while junior Alexa Saldana tied for 49th at 145. Playing as an individual, sophomore Ellen Yates tied for 87th at 156.
Florida State's Mirabel Ting earned medalist honors with a score of 6-under 14 to finish one stroke ahead of Anna Davis (Auburn), Valentine Delon (Virginia Tech) and Lottie Woad (Florida State).
