Ortiz second Houston student-athlete to finish competition in Paris
HOUSTON – University of Houston Swimming & Diving student-athlete Alondra Ortiz claimed an 18th place finish in the 200-meter butterfly prelims at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Wednesday.Â

The Costa Rican touched the wall in 2:18.56 in her debut Olympics at Paris La Defense Arena as part of the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad.Â

Ortiz's race wrapped up competition for current Houston Swimming & Diving student-athletes. Two former Houston Track & Field student-athletes are up next for competition in the Athletics 100-meter round one on Friday. The preliminary round begins at 4:50 a.m. on Aug. 3.Â
