Football Drops Friday Night Decision at Arizona

Sophomore quarterback Zeon Chriss throws for 191 yards, rushes for 55 more
TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona used scores on four straight possessions on the way to a 27-3 win over the University of Houston Football program at Arizona Stadium on Friday night.
Sophomore quarterback Zeon Chriss threw for 191 yards on 16-of-27 passing and rushed for 55 more while redshirt freshman running back ReShaun Sanford II added a team-high 76 rushing yards on 10 carries.
With the loss, Houston fell to 4-6 while Arizona improved to 4-6.
Arizona took advantage of a Houston turnover for the first points of the game. Taking over at their own 40, the Wildcats took a 7-0 lead when quarterback Noah Fifita connected with wide receiver Terairoa McMillan on a 33-yard touchdown pass with 8:28 left in the opening period.
The Cougars got on the scoreboard when senior kicker Jack Martin booted a career-long 49-yard field goal with 42 seconds left in the first half.
Arizona pushed its lead back to seven points when Tyler Loop nailed a 62-yard field goal on the final play of the first half. It was the longest field goal by an opposing kicker in Houston history, topping the 58-yard kick by Mississippi's Cloyce Hinton on Nov. 7, 1970.
After forcing a Cougar punt on the first possession of the second half, Arizona took a 17-3 lead when Fifita hit Quali Conley on a 13-yard touchdown pass with 10:01 remaining in the third quarter.
Loop added a 51-yard field goal with 6:15 left in the third quarter for a 20-3 Arizona lead. He became the first Cougar opponent to hit multiple 50+-yard field goals in a game.
Conley's 50-yard touchdown run on the Wildcats next possession gave Arizona a 27-3 lead with 4:27 remaining.
