Cougars see all five student-athletes shoot under par with team 54-hole record low in second straight tournament

SADDLEBROOKE, Ariz. – On a record-setting day, the University of Houston Women's Golf program posted a team score of 19-under 845 to finish in a tie for fourth at the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
All five Houston student-athletes – junior Nicole Abelar, freshmen Alexa Saldana, Moa Svedenskiold and Natalie Saint Germain and super senior Annie Kim – posted sub-par scores in the Final Round, led by Saint Germain's 67 on the 6,352-yard, par-72 course.
It was the first time in school history that all five Cougars in the starting lineup recorded red numbers in a round.
As a team, the Cougars lowered their total for the second straight round and finished with a score of 19-under 276 to tie with San Jose State for fourth.
Sunday's total tied as the second-lowest 54-hole total in program history, equaling its total from the Trinity Forest Invitational on March 6-7. The Cougars posted a score of 834 at the Schooner Fall Classic on Sept. 24-26, 2022, at Belmar Golr Club in Norman, Okla., to set the school record.
Saint Germain enjoyed a bogey-free round with five birdies for a 67. Starting her day off No. 5 with a birdie, the Prague native added another birdie on No. 8 and drained consecutive efforts on Nos. 15-16 before her final birdie of the day on No. 2 to tie for 33rd at 215.
A day after shooting a bogey-free 66, Abelar drained five birdies with back-to-back efforts on Nos. 6-7 and Nos. 10-11 on the way to a 70 and tied for 17th at 212.
Saldana posted her third straight sub-par round with a 71 Sunday and joined Abelar in a tie for 17th at 212.
Svedenskiold enjoyed her second straight round under par with a 71 in the Final Round and tied for 26th at 214.
Super senior Annie Kim recorded a 68 with five birdies and only one bogey Sunday and tied for 47th at 217.
Iowa State captured the team championship with a score of 804. Ohio State finished second at 837 while TCU came in third at 842.
Iowa State's Karisa Chuk-ak-sorn won medalist honors with a score of 191 while Ohio State's Caley McGinty finished second at 198. TCU's Caitlyn Macnab came in third at 202 with Iowa State's Ruby Chou (204), Pammy Chookaew (206) and Liyana Durisic (206) finishing fourth-fifth-sixth, respectively.

Following the MountainView Collegiate, the Cougars wrap up their regular season when they tee off at The Bruzzy in Ardmore, Okla., on April 1-2.
From there, Houston takes its first steps in the postseason when it tees off at the American Athletic Conference Championships at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla., on April 17-19.
