Three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Friday at MountainView Golf Club
SADDLEBROOKE, Ariz. – Fresh off a season-best finish, the University of Houston Women's Golf program continues its spring season when it tees off at the MountainView Collegiate at MountainView Golf Club on Friday morning.
The three-day, 54-hole event begins Friday morning with 18 holes scheduled each day through Sunday on the 6,352-yard, par-72 course.
Houston enters this weekend's tournament following a second-place finish at the Trinity Forest Invitational on March 6-7 in Dallas. The Cougars fired a school-record low round of 14-under 274 in the Final Round on the way to a team total of 845.
Freshman Moa Svedenskiold opened the Trinity Forest Invitational with scores of 70-69 and tied for fourth with a score of 4-under 212. It was Svedenskiold's fifth Top-20 finish in her last six tournaments.
Junior Nicole Abelar and freshman Natalie Saint Germain each tied for 10th with scores of 213 with Abelar joining Kim for the team's low score of the tournament with a 67 in the Final Round.

MEET the COUGARS
Under the leadership of Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gumm, the Cougars will be represented by Svedenskiold, Saint Germain, Abelar, super senior Annie Kim and freshman Alexa Saldana.
This season Svedenskiold leads Houston with a 71.62 scoring average and 13 rounds of par or better, including seven in the 60s. She became the first Houston freshman in school history to win a tournament championship with her individual title at the Jim West Challenge on Oct. 23-24, 2022.
Saint Germain stands second among the Cougars with a 72.33 average and 10 rounds of par or better and set a school record with a 64 in the Final Round of the Schooner Fall Classic on Sept. 26, 2022.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against student-athletes from Wisconsin, North Texas, Tulsa, Arkansas, Kansas State, Missouri, TCU, Nebraska, Iowa State, New Mexico State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio State, San Jose State, Southern Miss and UNLV.
PAIRINGS
For Friday's First Round, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Kansas State and Tulsa.
Saldana starts the day for the Cougars at 10 a.m. (CDT) off No. 10 with Kim (10:09 a.m. CDT), Abelar (10:18 a.m. CDT), Saint Germain (10:27 a.m. CDT) and Svedenskiold (10:36 a.m. CDT) following.

Following the MountainView Collegiate, the Cougars wrap up their regular season when they tee off at The Bruzzy in Ardmore, Okla., on April 1-2.
From there, Houston takes its first steps in the postseason when it tees off at the American Athletic Conference Championships at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla., on April 17-19.
