Chile Pepper Festival Ends Three Week Break

Houston travels to Fayetteville for first big meet of the season
HOUSTON – The University of Houston cross country team will end its three week break from competition on Friday as it heads to Arkansas' Chile Pepper Festival for the first time since 2012. The Cougars will race in a field of 30-plus teams for the first time in 2022.

Seniors Claire Meyer and Brandon Seagreaves have led Houston each of the first two meets this season but will take their teams into the longest race, and largest field of the season in Fayetteville.
The Cougars will be led by Interim Cross Country Coach Andy Ferrara who has taken over the team's training regimen.
Ferrara brings over 50 years of coaching experience, including 12 years with the USA Track and Field teams. A native New Yorker, Ferrara coached at the 2008, '12 and '16 Olympic Games with the United States as well as at seven Outdoor World Championships with USATF. Ferrara also coaches at five Indoor World Championships and at a handful of World Relays.
