Houston Swimming & Diving to Compete in Two Locations This Weekend

Cougar swimming will be at Rice while diving will be at home
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving program will split to compete in two separate locations across the city of Houston Friday and Saturday. Houston's swim team will compete at Rice while the diving team will host the Houston Diving Invitational.
At Rice, the Cougar swim program will begin competition at 4 p.m. on Friday with day two competition starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Rice Competition Pool. Meanwhile, the diving program will be at the CRWC Natatorium beginning its competition at 10 a.m. on Friday with Saturday competition beginning at 11 a.m.
Following the first meet of the fall schedule last weekend against Texas A&M, Houston looks to improve on both its scores and performance.
Senior diver Katie Deininger was named the American Athletic Conference Diver of the Week on Tuesday. She finished Thursday's meet with a third-place finish in the 3-meter and 1-meter scoring 288.90 and 288.45.
Sophomore Marina Ortega placed first in the 200 IM finishing with a time of 2:04:38 with freshman Abbie Alvarez following closely behind in second place with a time of 2:06.55. Alvarez also placed first in the 200 breaststroke.
The relay team of Katie Power, Laura Garcia Marin, Rachel Hicks, and Emma Wright placed first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:27:19.
Fans will have the opportunity to support the swim team across the city at Rice and diving team at the CRWC Natatorium on Friday and Saturday. Fans will be able to attend free of charge and follow social media for competition updates.
