Cougars to Compete in Texas A&M Invitational

HOUSTON -- The 2016 Houston Cougar Cross Country teams continue the 2016 season with a trip to College Station, Texas on Saturday, to compete at the Texas A&M Invitational at Dale Watts '71 Cross Country Course.

Where: Dale Watts '71 Cross Country Course | College Station, Texas
Men's Race: 8:15 a.m. | 8,000 meters
Women's Race: 9:00 a.m. | 6,000 meters
WHO WILL BE THERE?
Including the Cougars, 20 teams are scheduled to compete in College Station on Saturday morning. While Midwestern State will race only on the women's side, the host school Texas A&M alongside Baylor, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Kentucky, Lamar, Lipscomb, LSU, McNeese State, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, TCU, Texas Southern, Texas Wesleyan and UTSA are all expected to compete in each of the men's and women's races.
STARTING OFF STRONG
A duo of Cougars have led the men's and women's teams throughout the first two weeks of the season. For the women, redshirt senior Selena Sierra returned to the course in a big way during the opener with a second place finish at the SFA Lumberjack Preview before taking 11th at the Rice Invitational. On the men's side, sophomore G.J. Reyna has finished top-10 in each race placing eighth in Nacogdoches while finishing ninth at Rice.
FAMILIAR TERRITORY
Saturday's races will mark the third time in two years that the Cougars have competed at Dale Watts '71 Cross Country Course. 2016 is the second consecutive season that Houston has entered the Texas A&M Invitational, while they also ran on the Aggies' home course at the 2015 NCAA South Central Regional.
