PREVIEW: Houston Closes Season at Home

HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Volleyball team will conclude its 2016 schedule with two home matches hosting USF on Wednesday and UCF on Friday inside Athletics/Alumni Center. Both matches are free to the public and will get underway in 1 p.m. first serves.
The Cougars enter Wednesday looking to snap a 20-match losing streak. Houston fell to both Yale and host Rice in the Rice Adidas Invite II to close out non-conference play and has since posted an 0-18 record in league action.

QUICK HITS
• Wednesday's match is "International Student Day" with free color-changing cups for the first 100 fans. Friday's matchup will mark the final home match for two seniors - defensive specialist Marisa Guzman and middle blocker Hunter Wise - and the first 100 fans will receive a limited edition senior poster. Guzman and Wise will also be recognized in a special ceremony after the match.
• The Cougars, who are 25-51 all-time in The American, lead USF 13-12 (Sets: 51-49) in the all-time series and are 7-5 (Sets: 26-20) when hosting the Bulls. Houston leads UCF 11-7 (Sets: 37-31) all-time and is 5-3 (Sets: 17-13) when facing the Knights at home.
• The Cougars are familiar with both opponents having already played them earlier in league play. Houston fell 3-0 to UCF on Oct. 7 and 3-1 at USF on Oct. 9.
• Junior setter Keandra McCardell continues to move up in the Houston record books for career assists. She currently sits seventh all-time with 2,753 career assists.
• Houston continues to lead the American Athletic Conference in service aces with 140 total and 1.32 per set.
• Freshman libero Katie Karbo ranks fifth in the American Athletic Conference averaging 4.39 digs per set.
