ABOUT THE HBU INVITATIONAL
Where: Sugar Land Memorial Park | Sugar Land, Texas
Women's Race: 5 p.m. | 5,000 meters

WHO WILL BE THERE?
The Cougars will compete against four other teams at the HBU Invitational including the host team Houston Baptist as well as Rice, Texas Southern and Concordia.
ALONE AT THE TOP
A duo of Cougars have led the men's and women's teams throughout the first three weeks of the season. For the women, redshirt senior Selena Sierra returned to the course in a big way during the opener with a second place finish at the SFA Lumberjack Preview before taking 11th at the Rice Invitational and pacing the Cougars in 27th at the Texas A&M Invitational. On the men's side, sophomore G.J. Reyna finished top-10 in each of the first two races, placing eighth in Nacogdoches while finishing ninth at Rice. Reyna was also Houston's top placer in College Station finishing 24th.
FAMILIAR TERRITORY
Friday's race marks the third consecutive year the Cougars have competed at an HBU hosted event. Houston has run in four HBU races over the last three years after a pair of Cougar meets were Husky events last season.
A LOOK BACK
Then-sophomore Mackenzie Ilari was Houston's top women's finisher at the HBU Cross Country open last season when she placed 28th in 21:16.21 in the 5K. Houston's top men's finisher in the 4-mile event was Justin Barrett who crossed in 23:02.82 to finish 36th.
