Houston Drops 3-0 Decision to SMU

HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Volleyball team fell 3-0 (17-25, 7-25, 14-25) to SMU on Sunday afternoon inside Athletics/Alumni Center.
With the decision, the Cougars dropped to 5-10 overall and 0-4 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Mustangs improved to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in league action.
Outside hitters Megan Duncan and Brianna Lynch led the Cougars offensively with seven kills each. Senior setter Keandra McCardell finished with 23 assists. Freshman libero Katie Karbo registered 13 digs.
SMU's Lauren Mills and Kendall Patterson led all recording 14 kills and 37 assists, respectively. Libero Morgan Heise posted 11 digs, while Mills and Montana Watts dug up eight balls each.
The Mustangs outhit Houston .368-.053, owning a 43-25 advantage in kills, 7-1 mark in blocks and 44-40 edge in digs.
SMU never trailed in picking up 25-17, 25-7 and 25-14 victories to close the match in straight sets.
UP NEXT
Houston will continue conference play visiting the Sunshine State for matches at UCF (Oct. 7) and USF (Oct. 9).
