Houston Volleyball Sweeps North Texas

DENTON, Texas â€" Houston Volleyball claimed another second place finish for the season as the Cougars swept North Texas (25-20, 25-18, 27-25) in the final game of the North Texas Invitational Saturday night.
Houston is now 7-2 on the season while UNT drops to 5-6.
All three sets were a battle point-for-point, but the Cougars didn't let up. Houston hit well during the first two sets, only posting five total errors. Houston held the Mean Green to less than .200 hitting averages in all three sets while the Cougars hit over .320 in the first two.
Junior Hunter Wise led the Cougars as she hit .526 with 12 kills. Brookah Palmer followed with 10 kills, hitting .308. Sophomore Shelby Harper tallied six kills and a season best hitting average of .308. Middle blockers Courtney Smith and Chenelle Walker posted .500 hitting percentages with three kills each.
Sophomore setter Keandra McCardell recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 20 assists and 12 digs Saturday night.
Wise and Palmer were named to the all-tournament team for their outstanding performances this weekend.
NEXT SERVE
Houston Volleyball closes out tournament play with the season home opener hosting the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup. The Cougars welcome Nicholls State, Alabama A&M and Southeastern Louisiana for the two day round robin.
