SUGAR LAND, Texas - University of Houston freshmen Maddy Rayner and Tatiana Pineda enjoyed career-best finishes to lead the Women' Golf program during the Final Round of the HBU Husky Invitational at Riverbend Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
All three Cougars competed as individuals at this week's event. With only three student-athletes, Houston was not eligible for the team championship.
Rayner led Houston and tied for 14th overall with a score of 232 after opening the tournament Monday morning with a 1-under-par 71. The Southlake, Texas, native topped her previous best finish of 16th at the season-opening The "Mo"Morial on Sept. 8-10, 2014.
Pineda recorded the Cougars' low score for the second straight round and tied for 19th at 234. The Bogota, Colombia, native enjoyed her second straight top-20 showing after finishing 19th at the UNF Collegiate on March 9-10.
Freshman Courtney Tibiletti also represented the Cougars, tying for 47th at 252.
Lynn posted the lowest team score of the day at 299 on Tuesday to capture the team title at 899. Lamar finished second at 906 with host Houston Baptist (919), Sam Houston State (921) and McLennan Community College (937) rounded out the top-5 leaders.
Lynn's Jessica Bradley earned medalist honors with an even-par 216 to finish six strokes ahead of Lamar's Wenny Chang and Kassandra Rivera of Texas Southern. Fabiana Salazar of McLennan Community College placed fourth at 223.
This marked the second straight season that the Cougars will compete at the HBU Husky Invitational. A year ago, current junior Raegan Bremer was the only player to post a sub-par score in the Final Round with a 70 to earn medalist honors and capture the first individual crown in program history.

Following the HBU Husky Invitational, the Cougars return to action as a team on April 10-12 when they compete at the Dallas Athletic Club/SMU Invitational.
