TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Houston Women's Golf program stood in ninth place midway through the Second Round of the Wildcat Invitational on Monday evening at Sewailo Golf Club.
With all Houston student-athletes completing 12 holes, the Second Round was halted due to darkness. Teams will finish their Second Rounds beginning at 9 a.m. (CDT) Tuesday with an 11 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start scheduled for the Final Round on the 6,386-yard, par-72 course.

The Cougars opened the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 296 in the First Round and were at 19-over-par as a team before play was stopped. No. 1 USC led the tournament at -26 with host and eighth-ranked Arizona in second at -17. No. 50 Campbell (+6), UNLV (+6) No. 20 Texas A&M (+9), New Mexico State (+15), Wisconsin (+17) and Michigan (+17) rounded out the top-8 leaders.
Sophomore Emily Gilbreth fired the Cougars' lowest round of the day with an even-par 72 and stood in a tie for 22nd midway through the Second Round at +3. The Bellaire, Texas, sank six birdies on Monday, including four in the First Round with two on her final four holes.
Junior Raegan Bremer and freshman Yuka Kajiki were tied for 39th at +6, while freshman Megan Thothong was tied for 44th at +7. After standing at +4 through 12 holes in the First Round, Kajiki came on strong down the stretch with three straight birdies on Nos. 13-15.
Senior Courtney Ferguson stood in a tie for 52nd at +8.
USC's Karen Chung held the lead after the first day at -9 with teammate Kyung Kim a stroke back. USC's Annie Park and Arizona's Lindsey Weaver were tied for third at -6 with Wanasa Zhou in fifth at -5.

Following the Wildcat Invitational, the Cougars return to action March 23-25 when they off at the SDSU Farms Invitational at The Farms Golf Club in San Diego, Calif.
