PREVIEW: Volleyball to Host Final Home Matches

HOUSTON â€" Houston Volleyball caps the 2015 home slate this weekend as the Cougars host Tulane and East Carolina inside the Athletics/Alumni Center.
The Cougars (17-11, 7-9 The American) host Tulane for a midweek match on Wednesday slated for a 7 p.m. first serve. On Friday, Houston welcomes East Carolina for a 7 p.m. start to celebrate Senior Day.

QUICK HITS ON HOUSTON
« Houston Volleyball enters the weekend after splitting the week on the road. The Cougars picked up a three-set sweep over Tulsa on Friday before dropping in four to American Athletic Conference Champions SMU on Sunday. Earlier this season, UH handed SMU it's only conference loss.
« Senior libero Olivia O'Dell tallied 47 digs on the weekend as she became the fourth Cougar in school history to record 600 digs in a single season.
« Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer recorded her 12th and 13th double-double of the season with 20 kills and 10 digs against Tulsa on Friday and 16 kills and 13 digs against SMU on Sunday.
« Palmer was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season for her outstanding performance on the road.
« Houston opened the 2015 season 10-2 heading into conference play. This is the best start since the 1989 season when the program opened 12-2 leading into Southwest Conference play.
« Houston posted a record of 13-3 after 16 matches for the first time since the 1994 season. The 1994 team went on the win the Southwest Conference regular season, the SWC tournament and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.
TULANE GREEN WAVE
Tulane (9-19, 3-13 The American) enters the midweek matchup off a three-game losing streak. SMU swept the Green Wave on Friday before Tulsa took the win in five over Tulane. In the last meeting, Houston took a five set win over Tulane in New Orleans, La.

EAST CAROLINA PIRATES
East Carolina (11-16, 4-12 The American) enters the weekend after dropping two straight at home against Cincinnati and Memphis. In the last meeting, the Pirates swept UH at home for the Cougars second loss in conference play.

DIG IT OUT - OLIVIA O'DELL
Senior Olivia O'Dell continues to move up the Houston record books and national stat leaderboards as she became the fourth Cougar in school history to record 600 digs in a single season.
Earlier this season, O'Dell posted a record-breaking 32 digs in a three-set match vs. Cincinnati (Oct.18), tying the nation's best in that category. She also set a new school and conference record with 47 digs in a five-set win over Tulane (Oct. 7). She currently leads the nation for most digs in a single match (five sets).
For the season totals, she moved up to top 10 nationally in total digs and digs per set.

Brookah Palmer
Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after posting back-to-back double-double matches.
Palmer has been a great six-rotation addition for the Cougars. She has posted 20+kills in six matches including one 30+ kill match, double-digit kills in 26 of the 28 matches and has recorded 13 double-doubles so far this season.
Palmer was named the first Offensive Player of the Week for the 2015 season following her outstanding opening weekend.
