« Houston Volleyball went 2-0 last weekend as the Cougars defeated USF and UCF in five sets during the first conference road matches of the season.
« Houston opened the 2015 season 10-2 heading into conference play. This is the best start since the 1989 season when the program opened 12-2 leading into the Southwest Conference season.
« Houston is 13-3 after 16 matches for the first time since the 1994 season. The 1994 team went on the win the Southwest Conference regular season, the SWC tournament and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.
« Senior Olivia O'Dell was named to the conference weekly honor roll for her fifth league award of the season. She tallied 37 digs against USF, the fifth most in school history. LAST TIME OUT
Houston Volleyball picked up two big wins on the road last weekend in Florida. The Cougars opened the weekend with a five-set win over USF and ended with another five-set win over UCF on Sunday. Against USF, senior libero Olivia O'Dell had a career night as she recorded 37 digs. Her performance is now the fifth most in school history for most digs in a five-set match and earned O'Dell a spot on the American Athletic Conference weekly Honor Roll for her fifth award of the year. Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer recorded her sixth double-double of the season while sophomore setter Keandra McCardell tallied her fifth double-double of the season. Sophomore transfer Shelby Harper had her best showing of the season as she tallied seven kills, two service aces and five blocks. In the five-set upset over UCF Sunday, redshirt freshman middle blocker Chenelle Walker led the Cougars from the middle with 12 kills, hitting .476, and five blocks. Junior right side Hunter Wise also posted 12 kills, three digs and nine blocks in the five-set win. O'Dell tallied 23 digs in the five sets, marking 16th consecutive double-digit dig match. As a team, the Cougars posted a season best of 15.0 blocks led by Wise. TULANE GREEN WAVE
The Green Wave enters the match off two five-set losses to the Florida schools last weekend. Tulane is now 1-3 in conference play, picking up its only conference win over Tulsa in the opening match of the 2015 season. • Series Record: UH leads 28-11

The Cougars continue the American Athletic Conference play this weekend as they head to Greenville, N.C. for a match against East Carolina Sunday at noon. Houston returns home Oct. 16-18 as the Cougars host Memphis on Friday at 7 p.m. and Cincinnati on Sunday at 1 p.m. Sunday's match vs. Cincinnati will be the Cougars Dig Pink match.
