HOUSTON - Head Coach Ronald Hughey is proud to announce that Chyanne Butler has signed a Financial Aid Agreement to join the University of Houston women's basketball program. Butler will begin practicing with the Cougars at the start of the spring semester and will suit up for the team in 2015-16.
A native of Costa Mesa, Calif., Butler is one of the top points guards in the nation from the Class of 2014. The Junipero Serra HS product averaged 17.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game during her prep career. She was tabbed as the Class of 2014's 25th-ranked point guard by ESPN Hoopgurlz, and she also earned a three-star ranking from ESPN.
"Chyanne fits what we want to do on the court," said Hughey. "She plays fast, she attacks downhill, her court vision is phenomenal and she's a feisty defender. She is the type of player we are working to get here at the University of Houston to help us get back to our winning tradition."
Butler was named the 2014 Daily Breeze Co-Player of the Year and was an all-state selection as a senior. She played club basketball for the GBL Lady Rebels and West Coast Premier.
