Volleyball Plays Host To Marshall This Weekend

HOUSTON - After three-straight road matches, the University of Houston volleyball team returns to the Athletics/Alumni Center for the first two matches in a four-match home stand. The Cougars will play host to Marshall on Friday and Saturday. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Saturday's match is Camp Reunion night and Youth Day. Campers wearing their 2011 camp shirt will receive free admission to the match. In addition, a Kid's Zone will be set up on the indoor turf and the Cougar volleyball team will hold a post-match clinic and sign autographs.

Houston enters the weekend with a 16-7 record and is in second place in Conference USA with a 9-4 record. They are also 9-0 at home this season.
Senior Lucy Charuk leads the team with 279 kills and a .404 hitting percentage. She is one of four Cougars with at least 200 kills. Freshman Caitlin Ogletree has a team-high 968 assists and freshman Natalie Keck paces the team with 381 digs.
The Cougars came in at No. 43 in the latest NCAA RPI. Charuk's hitting percentage ranks ninth in the NCAA and her 1.31 block per set average is 21st. Ogletree's 10.88 assist per set average ranks 41st for the Cougars.
Marshall is 7-16 on the season and 6-7 in league action. Abby Tomas and Cameron Yoho lead the team with 246 and 223 kills, respectively. Laura Der has a team-high 772 assists and Ryanne Milligan paces the team with 277 digs.
The Thundering Herd are on a three-match win streak after defeating SMU, Southern Miss and Tulane at home.
The all-time series between the two teams is tied at 4-4. Houston won both matches last season and the last three overall.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will remain in Houston next weekend for matches against SMU and Tulsa. Houston will open the weekend against the Mustangs at 7 p.m., Nov. 11 and close out the weekend against the Golden Hurricane at 1 p.m., Nov. 13.
