HOUSTON - For the first time this year, the University of Houston women's basketball team will take the floor at Hofheinz Pavilion as it hosts the Houston Jaguars Monday in a 7 p.m. exhibition contest.
The game will be the first chance UH fans have to see the new-look Cougars in action as the young team will feature only one senior and eight underclassmen during the 2008-09 campaign. Returning Conference USA All-Freshman team performers Cobilyn Hill and Courtney Taylor will be looked upon to step up and lead the team after breaking onto the scene in a big way a year ago.
Monday's exhibition is just the first act in a busy week for the team as UH will officially open its season on Friday when it entertains Southeastern Louisiana in a 5:30 p.m. contest at Hofheinz. The home stand continues on Saturday as the Cougars take the court at Noon against Gardner Webb prior to the UH men's team which will play at 3 p.m. and the UH football game against Tulsa, which begins at 7 p.m. from Robertson Stadium.
