Volleyball Takes Home Four C-USA Postseason Awards

Memphis, Tenn. - Four University of Houston volleyball players took home Conference USA Postseason awards Wednesday night at a banquet held prior to the start C-USA Volleyball Championship.
Senior Justine Farmer and sophomore Lucy Charuk were both named to the All-Conference USA First Team, while freshman Ingrida Zauere was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team.
Senior Kelsey King was honored for her performance in the classroom, being named to the C-USA All-Academic Team.
Farmer is a three-time All-C-USA First Team selection and she enters the championship leading the team with 430 kills this season and is second on the team with 266 digs. She currently has 2,075 career kills and 1,522 career digs. Those totals rank fourth and 10th best in C-USA career charts.
This season Farmer leads the league in points (4.71) and kills (4.29) and 22nd in digs per set (2.55). She is also the first Cougar to be named a three-time First Team selection.
This is the first postseason award for Charuk, who currently ranks 32nd in the NCAA in blocks per set with an average of 1.27. In league matches, she leads the league with 1.48 blocks per set and ranks 10th in points per set with 3.47. Charuk is also the only player on the team with over 100 blocks with a total of 140.
Zauere averaged 2.69 kills per set, second among league freshman, on her way to All-Freshman Team honors. She ranks third on the team with 211 kills and is fourth with 159 digs. Zauere is the second consecutive freshman from Houston to be named to the All-Freshman team and the third in four years.
King earned her second consecutive All-Academic Team selection. She is has a psychology major and she leads the team with 1,174 assists.
Houston, the No. 4 seed in the C-USA Volleyball Championship, will play their first match of the championship on Friday at 2 p.m. against the winner of the No. 5 Tulsa and No. 12 East Carolina at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The Championship is being playing on the campus of Memphis University on Nov. 20-23.
