HOUSTON - The University of Houston volleyball team fell to Texas State, Friday afternoon, in their first match of two in the CenturyTel Premier in San Marcos, Texas. The Bobcats won the match 3-1 with scores of 30-25, 30-27, 30-21, and 30-23.
Justine Farmer (EL Paso, Texas/Americas HS) paced the Cougars recording her third straight double-double with 23 kills and 18 digs. With her 23 kills, the El Paso native, moved into eighth place in the Cougar career kills list with 1,195.
Houston was also led by freshman Robin Fitzgerald with 39 assists, freshman Lucy Charuk with 12 kills and freshman Amanda Carson with 21 digs.
The Cougars dropped the first two games hitting just .188 and .079, respectively. They would earn a convincing game three, 30-21, but couldn't hold on to force their third five game match in as many days.
UH won't get much time to rest as they will take on Missouri tonight at 5pm. Houston is 0-2 against the Big 12 in 2007, falling to Kansas State and Texas earlier in the year. The Cougars also trail 0-2 in the all-time series against the Tigers.
Following Friday night's match Houston will play Cal State Bakersfield at 2 pm on Saturday to conclude the tournament.
