Cross Country Concludes Season at NCAA Regionals

HOUSTON - The University of Houston cross country team competed Saturday at the NCAA South Central Regionals in Waco, Texas. Hosted by Baylor University, the course was a 6,000 meter race for the women and a 10,000 meter race for the men.
The men's team finished 12th behind senior Calum Neff's 31st place finish of 31:34.8. Freshman Ahmed Harb finished 60th with a time of 32:36.4.
Freshman Daniel Martinez and Michael Malain came in 70th and 76th, respectively. Other Cougar runners finishing the race were senior Paul Goodwin (81st), freshman Juston Perez (97th) and freshman Nathan Trimble (107th).
The women were led by the 50th place performance of junior Oumama Hallal (22:33.6). Freshman Jessica Cook finished 56th with a time of 22:39.0 and junior Adrianne Guinn finished 84th with a time of 23:40.7.
Also finishing were sophomores Jennifer Harper (94th) and Eva Madrid (87th) and freshman Erica Hannemann (102nd). As a team, the women finished 13th.
Arkansas took the men and women's team championship with SMU's Rachel Forish winning the women's individual title and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Shadrack Songok taking the men's individual title. This was the second straight year that Arkansas swept the team titles.
