UH To Host 14th Annual Cougar Classic 5K Fun Run

Houston, Texas - University of Houston The University of Houston men's and women's cross country teams will be the hosts for the 14th Annual Cougar Classic 5,000-Meter Fun Run on Saturday, August 31.
The Fun Run will begin at 7:30 a.m. in front of the UH Athletics/Alumni Center. The course runs around and through the UH campus and finishes in Olympic style with the final 200 meters on the track.
In addition to the Men and Women's 5K run, there will be a 1K run for children, 12 and under, and a coed 5Kwalk.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 50 male and female runners in the 5K run. In addition, plaques will be awarded to the overall champions as well as the winners in the Master (40+) and Senior (55+) Divisions.
In the children's 1K run, medals will be given to the top five boys and top five girls in two age groups, 9-12 and 8& under. In addition, drawings will be held for other prizes ranging from running shoes and dinners.
There is a $15 entry fee if the registration form is postmarked by August 24, 2002. The entry fee is $18 after August 24 and a $20 entry fee on the day of the race. For more information and/or to receive an entry form, please call the University of Houston Track and Field Office at (713) 743-9470.
