Jason Bauman joined the University of Houston athletics department in March of 2023 as Associate Athletics Director for Facilities and Event Management and was elevated to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Facilities and Event Management in the summer of 2025.Â
Bauman directs and leads the operations of Houston’s athletics facilities, oversees the game management for the department, and serves as the point of contact for special events held in Houston’s athletics facilities.
Before coming to Houston, Bauman served as the Associate Athletics Director for Facilities and Operations at the University of Virginia.
At Virginia, Bauman directed and led the operations of UVA’s athletics facilities, oversaw the game management and championships for the department, and served as the department’s representative on capital and non-capital projects. He was responsible for an $8 million annual budget.
He was involved in several key capital projects for the athletics department including the expansion of Scott Stadium, construction of the softball stadium (Palmer Park), the expansion of the baseball stadium and the development of the Training Grounds as part of the athletics Master Plan project. He managed several locker room renovations, upgrades and maintenance repairs at Scott Stadium and the installation of numerous synthetic and natural grass field renovations.
While managing all aspects of the athletics facilities, Bauman oversaw facility maintenance, operating and security systems, sports turf, and grounds, including preventative maintenance programs.
He also served as tournament director for Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) championship events and NCAA events such as men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and NCAA Baseball Regionals and Super Regionals.
Before Virginia, Bauman served as the assistant athletic facilities coordinator at Kentucky.
The native of Allison, Iowa, earned his bachelor’s degree in business education from Buena Vista (Iowa) in 1990. While there, Bauman was a four-year letter winner, two-time all-conference, and an all-region selection on the baseball team.
Bauman earned his master’s degree in sport management from Western Illinois in 1991.
Bauman and his wife, Kelly, have two daughters, Taylor and Brooke.
