Dr. Summer Ott

Summer Ott, Psy.D., is the Director of the Memorial Hermann | Rockets Sports Medicine Institute Concussion Program and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Dr. Ott serves as the neuropsychological consultant for most Houston professional sports teams including the Texans, Dash, Dynamo, Rockets, and Sabercats as well as teams from numerous universities and school districts throughout Texas. In addition to assessments of athletes actively engaged in sports, her practice also includes neuropsychological evaluations of former collegiate and professional athletes and patients with non-sports-related mTBI.
She serves on the medical advisory committees for USA Cheer and Major League Rugby, a founding member and fellow of the Sports Neuropsychological Society (SNS) and currently serves as chair of Sports Neuropsychology Action and Professional Practice (SNAPP) committee.
Dr. Ott has received grant funding from the NIH, the Moody Endowment, and Mission Connect to study concussive injury in adolescent athletes and has co-authored publications on sports related concussion. She was a member of the task force that developed verbiage for a sports concussion bill in Texas known as Natasha’s Law. This law established return-to-play guidelines for school-aged athletes with concussion.
