David Romero PT, DPT, SCS

David Romero joined the University of Houston Athletics Department as director of physical therapy services for Football and Olympic Sports in June 2026.
In his current role, David works directly with the Houston Football program while providing leadership and support for rehabilitation services across the athletics department. He collaborates with team physicians, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning staff and coaches to provide comprehensive care for student-athletes.
David came to UH after working as a sports physical therapist with Rice University Athletics/Houston Methodist. Prior to his time at Rice, David completed a Division I sports dellowship at USC, where he gained experience working with collegiate athletes across multiple sports. He also completed a sports residency through Evidence in Motion in Austin, Texas, which included experiences with University of Texas Football.
David earned his doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in 2020 and received his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Ohio State in 2018. He was born and raised just south of Boston.
David is a licensed physical therapist and a board certified sports clinical specialist.
He currently lives in Houston.
