Chendall Weaver Signs with Men’s Basketball

Graduate guard from Texas will have one year of eligibility remaining
HOUSTON – Graduate guard Chendall Weaver has joined the University of Houston Men's Basketball program after signing a financial aid agreement, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Monday.Weaver – whose first name is pronounced KEN-Dull – will have one season of eligibility beginning in 2026-27. The Mansfield, Texas, native joined the Cougars after competing for the previous three seasons at Texas with his first season at UT Arlington in 2022-23.
In four seasons, Weaver has competed in 122 games while shooting higher than 46 percent from the field and needs only 159 points to reach 1,000 in his collegiate career.
"Every program has an identity. When we think about adding players to our culture, the first thing is that you have to be a good person. Obviously, the talent has to be there, and then the fit. Chendall is high level on all three," Sampson said. "He's a great kid from a great family. He is tough and fits our identity on how we want to play at both ends. He is an extremely competitive player. Chendall has a chance to come in here and make us better."
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 180 pounds, Weaver began his collegiate career at UT Arlington as a freshman for the 2022-23 season. That year, he averaged 9.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while playing in all 32 games. He scored a career-high 21 points in a road win at Sam Houston (Feb. 4, 2023) and grabbed 10 rebounds, including five offensive boards, in a road win at San Francisco (Dec. 19, 2022)..
For his efforts, he was named the WAC Freshman of the Year and was a four-time honoree as the WAC Freshman of the Week.
From there, Weaver transferred to Texas, where he played for the last three seasons and from which he received his bachelor's degree in physical culture and sports. He played all 34 games as a sophomore with the Longhorns in 2023-24 and scored 11 points with four rebounds and an assist in a loss at Houston inside Fertitta Center (Feb. 17, 2024).
Weaver was limited to 20 games as a junior in 2024-25 due to a groin injury but returned for his senior campaign in 2026-27 to lead the Longhorns to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. He recorded the first double-double of his career with 11 points and 10 rebounds in an NCAA First Four win over NC State (March 17, 2026).
In addition to his work on the court, Weaver was named to both the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the NABC Honors Court in 2024-25 and earned a place on the SEC Men's Basketball Community Service Team following the 2025-26 campaign.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Weaver was a star at Mansfield Timberview High School. As a senior there, he averaged 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while leading his team to a 36-5 overall record and the Class 5A State Championship Title Game.
He averaged 17.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in the state playoffs on the way to earning Class 5A State All-Tournament Team honors.
