DALLAS – The University of Houston Women's Golf program earned a second-place finish at the Big 12 Championship presented by Allstate at Dallas Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon.Competing on the 6,270-yard, par-72 course, the 36th-ranked Cougars posted a team score of 293 in the Final Round to finish six strokes behind Iowa State.
The Cougars tied for the third-lowest score of the day but could not overcome a hot start by Iowa State, which sank nine birdies in the first three holes on the way to the team championship with a score of 859.This marked the Cougars' highest finish at a Big 12 Championship in program history and marked the team's best finish at a conference postseason event since finishing second at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championships on Pinehurst #6 at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C.
Junior Maelynn Kim fired a 71 Saturday for the Cougars' low round of the day and finished third with a three-day, 54-hole score of 3-under 213 for her best finish at a Conference Championships event. Senior teammates Natalie Saint Germain and Moa Svedenskiöld joined Kim among the Top-10 leaders and earned a place on the Big 12 All-Tournament Team.
Svedenskiöld earned the third Conference All-Tournament honor of her career while Saint Germain captured her second after tying for 10th at the 2025 Big 12 Championships at The Clubs at Houston Oaks in Hockley, Texas.
Kim moved under par with her first birdie of the day on the par-4 fourth hole but endured back-to-back bogeys on the next two holes. The Houston native opened her second nine with a birdie at No. 10 and alternated birdies and pars over the next six holes on the way to her 71.
Saint Germain enjoyed her career-best finish at a Conference Championship with 16 pars and only a pair of bogeys on her scorecard to tie for fifth at 1-under 215.
Svedenskiöld buried a pair of birdies in her Final Round and finished with a 73 for the second straight day to tie with Kirstin Angosa (TCU) for 10th at 217.
Senior Alexa Saldaña tied for 19th at 220 while sophomore Emilia Väistö, who was making her Big 12 Championship debut with Houston, tied for 44th at 227.
